The Lake House at Bulow is a wedding venue where nature abounds. The venue centers around the outdoors. Both the ceremony and the reception are usually set up under the open sky (weather permitting of course). As you walk the grounds of the venue you cannot help but notice the lush greenery beaming with life. There are many romantic corners and angles that make it very easy to take pretty photos at this venue.
The long bridge that connects the lake house to the lake island makes for a great platform for all kinds of photos: formal photos, creative photos, romantic photos. It can also be decorated with string lights which makes for gorgeous background details during the reception hours.
One of our focuses when capturing a wedding is beautiful photos of just the bride and groom – those are the portraits that usually end up being framed around the house. Luckily The Lake House at Bulow has many options for lush green natural backdrops such as those below.
The ceremony usually is set-up on the lake island, among trees, with the water as a backdrop. In the summer, the greens of the trees complement the brown of the pine straw covered ground. In the late fall, the changing leaves of the trees offer even more color tones.
The reception usually qualifies as an evening in fresh air. Whether you intend to have a tent set up or not, the area usually dedicated to the reception is outdoors on the back deck. It’s large enough to host the best of parties. You may set-up your desert bar inside of the main house or on the porch. Either way, there’s plenty of room to mingle, dance or sit down for dinner.
The interior of this venue was not very updated last time we took photos there. The rooms available for getting ready photos are usually dark and could use a bit of a decorating touch. Whenever possible we take some of the getting ready photos outside.
If you’re hosting your reception outside (with no tent) additional lighting (like string lights) would be recommended. The photographers will have to use flash or strobes which can at times be challenging to use in an outdoor setting, especially when soft, ambient lighting is desired.
